Summary

The data that we collected from 6th and 7th graders reinforces what we already believe that we need to do to make Oakland a better place for all of its residents. For example, 95.7% agreed that the statement, “All areas in Oakland are healthy, clean and safe,” is false. This piece of data shows that the residents Oakland do not believe that Oakland is equitable to all its residents. 40% of kids that took the survey all agreed that Oakland parks are essentially nice places to be but they are a little dirty. This means that the green spaces that we do have we as a community need to take better care of them. 40% of children who took the survey said that they go to parks once or twice a month. 26.7% of the children that took the survey said that they would like to take away the trash from their neighborhood. 60.9% of children that took survey said that there are farmer’s markets in their neighborhood but the other 39.1% said that there are not farmer’s markets in their neighborhoods.

This data reflects upon what real people want from Oakland. We need to make Oakland a healthier, happier, cleaner, and safer place. In Oakland we need to spread out the farmers markets throughout all neighborhoods, we need to start maintaining all Oakland parks, and we need to put our plans to make get rid of illegal dumping in action.
